Full-Frame Super Speeds

Zeiss Contax lenses are often described as ‘Full Frame Super Speeds’, these are lenses with great coverage and an organic character that differentiates them from modern optics.

These lenses cover the entire image sensor of full-frame cameras and fully support LF Open Gate across the entire focal range. Focal lengths of 25mm and above have an image circle of more than 50mm, covering the ARRI 265 in 5.1K mode. Focal lengths from 35mm and above have an image circle of at least 56mm, which will cover the Blackmagic URSA 17K 65 in Open Gate and the ARRI Alexa 65 in 2.39:1 with 95% scaling. This results in a wider field of view and a more cinematic look towards the edges of the frame compared to medium format lenses designed to cover the sensor.

Additionally, as "Super Speed" lenses, they typically feature wide maximum apertures of up to T1.6, allowing more light to enter the lens. This offers several advantages, including improved low-light performance and a shallow depth of field, with beautiful bokeh that isolates subjects from their backgrounds.
